While cultivating his genetic army of super robotic ninja samurai zombie monkeys, Dan Davis, founding member of I Am Not The Janitor, found an old drum machine, keyboard and guitar in the basement of his house. Upon retrieval of said music equipment, he discovered a secret door that led to a sub-basement where brothers Chris and Doug Reid had been living since being forced into exile from their mother's home. The three soon hit it off and decided that universal domination was beyond their limited grasp, and thus started the band I Am Not the Janitor.
While searching for the perfect place to practice and write their music, the band came across a wandering ronin looking for a master. His name was Sam. Disillusioned with his life as a masterless samurai, Sam decided to lend his bass playing skills to the band and thus the fourth member of the band was found. However, all was not well with the band. Sam came to realize that his heart was not into being tied down, and he could not turn away from the path of the sword. He had chosen his destination and left the band to find the truth of the way and continue his training. So the band was back to three.
Three, a perfect number.
The number of the universal ebb and flow of time...
The music of I Am Not the Janitor has been described in many ways; less painful than death, more fun than a root canal and destined to take over where the Beatles left off. However, Chris Reid describes the music as "neat!" Doug agrees. So does Dan. The three have been writing music individually for many years and have since combined their "talents" and cultivated a sound that is unique while still maintaining the familiarity of pop, hip hop and rock. (This is the point when you pop in your I Am Not The Janitor CD and decide for yourself what kind of music the band makes, as they have given up trying to describe it.)
